There are lots of different kinds of switches such as the toggle switch, the DIDP switch, the slide switch, and the rocker switch. A switches throw number is the amount of connected positions that it can be set to. A switches pole number is the amount of separate circuits that it can be controlled by that switch at once. If you only want to cause a brief connection you should use a momentary switch. A normally open momentary switch connects the two terminal one is pressed it is the exact opposite for a normally closed momentary switch. With a toggle switch you flip it one way and the two terminals are electrically connected flip it the other way and the connection is broken.A switch connects two pieces of conductive material witch creates a full circuit switch it the other way and it will brake the circuit.
I will have to look up what a DIDP switch is.
