Infrared

Infrared or IR is electromagnetic radiation  with a wave length longer than that of visible light. Even though we can not see the light it is very useful.  In things like home security systems, motion detectors, and factory assembly lines.

What we see as red light is actually a wave of electromagnetic energy oscillating at a frequency of around 450 teraherts. If the electromagnetic waves oscillate lower than 400 teraherts the light can not be seen by the human eye.

  1. What I like about infrared is heat, especially on cold days like today. :)
