"Children of the Corn" is a short story by Stephen King, first published in the March 1977 issue of Penthouse, and later collected in King's 1978 collection Night Shift. Vicky and Burt are the two main characters while driving to California the hit a child in Nebraska that was all ready killed in search of the authorities they find them selfs in a small town called gatlin inhabited by murderous children all members of a pagan cult that worships a demonic version of the god of the Old Testament called "He Who Walks Behind the Rows" who animistically inhabits the cornfields that surround the town. There were six sequels.
